Chera Amlag is a Seattle-based Filipina-American entrepreneur, educator, and culinary creative mama. In 2014, Chera founded and co-owns Hood Famous Bakeshop, a wholesale Filipino bakery and dessert shop best known for her flagship dessert - ube cheesecake. Hood Famous was born from a Filipino pop-up dinner series and passion project called Food & Sh*t and most recently expanded in 2019 with Hood Famous Cafe + Bar in the Chinatown-International District.
Born in Olongapo, Philippines, Chera immigrated with her family to America at the tail end of Martial Law through the US Navy. After graduating from the University of Washington, she spent 15 years working in youth development, nonprofits, and higher education before transitioning from Director of the MESA (Math, Engineering, and Science Achievement) Program at Highland College into her second career as a self-taught pastry chef and entrepreneur.
